AGCT welcomes MSC, ups Far East links

ADRIATIC Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), operated by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), marked a milestone in regional trade on April 9, with the maiden call of MSC Annick, launching Mediterranean Shipping Company's (MSC) new standalone Hadria service at the Port of Rijeka.

The Hadria service offers direct weekly connections from Rijeka to the Far East via Malta, following the recent breakup of the 2M Alliance. This development significantly enhances North Adriatic connectivity and reinforces Rijeka's role as a strategic gateway to the Balkans and Central Europe.

AGCT CEO Emmanuel Papagiannakis said, "With the breakup of the 2M Alliance, we are excited to welcome the new standalone MSC Hadria service to AGCT. We expect shippers to embrace the new service, as well as MSC's global connectivity and continued commitment to Rijeka as a major gateway for the Balkans and Central Europe."

The new service is expected to benefit regional exporters and importers by providing faster access to global markets. With improved transit times and schedule reliability, AGCT continues to meet the growing demand for flexible and sustainable logistics solutions.

AGCT's expanding service portfolio underscores its position as a key trade hub in the Adriatic. The terminal, operated under a 30-year partnership between ICTSI and Luka Rijeka D.D. since 2011, continues to attract new services and enhance its role in international supply chains.
