Cavalier, Frazsiers Whip look to extend dominant JWPL starts

Leaders Cavalier and Frazsiers Whip will seek to build on their advantages when they take on WiFi United and Real MoBay AFC, respectively, as the Jamaica Women’s Professional League continues with five matches this afternoon.

All matches are set to start 3:30.

Cavalier, leading with 19 points, are set to be away to WiFi United at Carder Park in Port Antonio, while defending champions Frazsiers Whip return after a one-week lay-off to host Real MoBay at Royal Lakes Sports Complex.

Third-placed Arnett Gardens will be away to Federal United at Prison Oval, while fourth-placed Los Perfectos FC are to host UWI Women’s FC at Brooks Park.

Cavalier, coming off a big 11-2 win over Federal United last Saturday, face a WiFi United team that has won three of their last four games. Their loss in that spell was a close one to Frazsiers Whip. WiFi United will hope to use the home field to their advantage.

Shanel Spence, the competition’s top scorer with 15 goals, has been on a tear in her last few games and is expected to lead the Cavalier attack against a WiFi United defence that has proven to be sturdy, giving up just eight goals in six games.

Frazsiers Whip are hoping to pick up where they left off after winning their first six games.

Real MoBay had very little to offer at home against WiFi United last weekend and fell to seventh place in the tables.

Arnett Gardens are coming off the largest win of the season so far, whipping hapless Springers United 15-0 and will target back-to-back lopsided wins when they take on Federal United.

Shakira Douglas scored five times last week to take her tally to 13 goals and will be on the hunt for more goals.

After back-to-back losses, Los Perfectos won last weekend and will hope to extend their positive run when they take on UWI Women’s FC who have won just once in their last three outings. UWI were beaten last week by a last-minute goal from Proven Girls who were getting their first win of the season.

Springers United will have their best chance to get a win when they host Mile Gully FC at the Granville Community Centre after consecutive heavy losses.

Of the 39 goals they have conceded this season, Springers United have let in 22 in their last two games. But they can turn things around against a team just two places above them on the points table.
