The NFL’s international footprint continues to generate excitement.

Rumors suggest that the Kansas City Chiefs are likely to be named the visiting team for a Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil.

The contest would mark the second NFL game played there, following last season’s clash when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers.

As speculation mounts, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt addressed the possibility with notable enthusiasm about starting the season in an international game.

“Clark Hunt says he’s aware of the speculation of the Chiefs playing the Chargers in Brazil in Week 1. Says the team would welcome the opportunity and believes the NFL will be making an announcement on the game in the next few days,” Matt Derrick of Chiefs Digest wrote on X.

The Chiefs narrowly missed making NFL history last season, falling just short of claiming a third consecutive Super Bowl title.

Despite that setback, their championship aspirations and popularity remain unchanged.

Unlike recent years, however, the Chiefs won’t enjoy the privilege of opening the season at home, as the Eagles are slated for the traditional champion’s opener in 2025.

This potential Week 1 voyage would add to the Chiefs’ growing international resume.

Since 2015, the franchise has played in England, Mexico and Germany, building a global following with each appearance.

The organization recently unveiled plans to pursue fans in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Spain as part of its international marketing strategy.
