Eala ousts Koevermans to advance to Round-of-16 in Portugal tilt
MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala kicked off her campaign at the Oeiras Ladies Open in style, defeating Anouk Koevermans of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-4 at the Jamor Tennis Club in Oeiras, Portugal.
Eala was down 2-4 in the second set when play was suspended due to heavy rain.
However, the delay seemed to work in her favor, allowing her to regroup and charge forward upon the match's resumption.
Eala will next compete in the doubles event, partnering with American Katie Volynets.
