Eldrew Yulo relishes first running experience

ELDREW Yulo was among the 15,000 tough participants of the 2025 National Milo Marathon Manila Leg at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City on Sunday.

The younger brother of the two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo who was accompanied by his mom Angelica shared how his first-ever marathon went.

Eldrew stays grounded despite the overwhelming attention from fans seeking selfies. He was taken aback by the enthusiastic welcome he received from the crowd.

"I am also a normal person and I did not expect that I will be a 'star' here in the race. I want to run since this is my first marathon," the 16-year-old child prodigy said.

His mother had intended to participate in the run but chose to watch from the sidelines.

"I was only gone for 30 minutes since I ran five kilometers. She was supposed to join the 3-km category, but she got lazy and she was not registered, so she just supported me," he said in a light manner.

The junior Asian champion in vault also added that he looks forward to make running a yearly commitment.

"I love it so much. I am going to do it again. Next year, and in the upcoming years, so that if I am already old, I am still active," he said.

Other runners also delivered impressive performances, showcasing their grit, speed and stamina in the event that has evolved into a cherished tradition among Filipino families who share a love for running.
