Give the newest vivo V50 a try

STUNNING in Ancora Red and other eye-catching shades, the latest addition to vivo's V series has finally arrived in the Philippines: the V50.
"Mobile phones nowadays have become so much more than just a tool. They are a fashion statement now," shares beauty queen Nicole Cordoves during the grand launch of the V50, where she also underscores how phones have become a reflection of lifestyle, particularly observed in digital trends such as mirror selfies.
Now, mobile phones are relied on for entertainment, navigation, communication, hassle-free transactions and photography features that are comparable to that of professional-grade cameras.
The introduction of the vivo V50 comes just in time to deliver all of these. In terms of mobile photography, the V50's camera features are not something to be overlooked. These focus on taking portrait photography to the next level.
"Being a leader for portrait photography has always been the goal for the V series since we launched it a few years ago. We are now proud of how far we have come," states Keshav Chugh, product manager for camera in vivo Global.
He continues, saying that the mission of V50 is to become a professional portrait flagship. To make this possible, vivo has, once again, teamed up with ZEISS to take V50's innovative camera features one notch higher.
The partnership between vivo and ZEISS has set three goals for the V50: to be a stylish fashion accessory, a professional portrait flagship, and a powerful and efficient flagship smartphone.
Franziska Hoffman, brand partnerships manager at ZEISS Photonics and Optics, says, "With the V50, our dedication to professional portraits continues. We've redefined our approach with the V50, featuring an outstanding 50-megapixel (MP) main camera."
The V50 comes with three 50 MP cameras: the main camera, an ultra wide-angle camera and a group selfie camera — all powered by ZEISS lenses.
According to Chugh, the combination of OIS and vivo's self-developed Antishake algorithm provides CIPA 4.0 DSLR-level stabilization, meaning the V50 can take photos with less blur, greater clarity and longer exposures with reduced shakiness even when shooting at night or in poorly lit areas.
Meanwhile, the 50 MP ZEISS ultra wide-angle camera has a 119-degree field of view, capturing wider subjects and landscapes in each frame.
ZEISS' Hoffman comments on this feature: "In photography, wide-angle lenses are typically used for portraits. Vignetting, perspective distortions and technical operations are unwanted effects.n= However, our innovative use of wide-angle technology and vivo's advanced algorithm allows us to capture stunning details even in larger groups."
For the front camera, the 50 MP ZEISS group selfie camera boasts an upgraded imaging performance that achieves comparable results to professional lenses at a certain level, added Chugh.
The V50 comes complete with the V series' iconic Aura Light. This time, V50 is installed with a smarter and larger Al Aura Light Portrait 2.0 that covers a 100-percent, light-emitting area than the V40 and is 143 times softer than a traditional vivo smartphone flashlight.
This, combined with the Al 3D Studio Lighting 2.0, creates multiangle lighting for more depth and dimension in portraits.
The V50's versatility also extends to its Multifocal Portrait feature, offering focal lengths of 23 millimeters (mm), 35 mm and 50 mm.
In an era of curated content on social media, these features come highly recommended for a device designed for content creation, visual storytelling and self-expression.
As Hoffman puts it, "Portraits are not just images; they are an integral part of our culture," explaining that portraits can be powerful tools in telling real-life stories and expressing deep emotions.
Battery life and durabilityOther than the camera, Cordoves emphasizes how the V50 addresses battery life worries with its 6000-milliampere-hour BlueVolt battery, the largest in the V series.
There's no need to carry an extra power bank with the V50's long-lasting power. Despite the large battery capacity, the V50 isn't bulky, and still pulls off its sleek and lightweight design.
To complement a strong battery life, the V50 is equipped with a 90-watt FlashCharge for quick and convenient charging.
The V50 also has IP68 and IP69 ratings, ensuring the device is highly protected from dust and water no matter where you take it. In fact, the V50 can stay submerged in water for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1.5 meters, a feature suitable for underwater photography.
New vivo ambassadorAlong with the launch of the newest V50 comes the welcoming of vivo's new ambassador, BJ Pascual, a renowned celebrity photographer. Pascual expresses his excitement and admiration for the V50's cameras.
Meanwhile, brand ambassador Alden Richards and celebrities Enchong Dee and Gretchen Ho grace the stage in red outfits that perfectly match the vivo V50's bold Ancora Red color while three lucky audience members are invited to play games with them during the launch.
To experience the vivo V50, pre-order is available until March 14 with an exclusive discount of P2,000. It will be available for claiming from March 15 to 31, 2025.
