Jamaicans shut out of Penn Relays 4x800m

KINGSTON, Jamaica— For the second time in four years, no Jamaican teams have won the High School Boys’ 4x800m Championship of America final at the Penn Relays.
Kingston College in sixth place, were the best finish on Friday’s second day of the 129th Penn Relays Carnival at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
Three Jamaican teams, including Calabar High and Edwin Allen High, had qualified on Friday but were not able to challenge the top teams.
Rockhurst High of Missouri won the event with 7:33.83 seconds, just ahead of favourites St John’s College of Washington, DC – 7:34.26 seconds – with IMG Academy of Florida third with 7:34.45 seconds.
Kingston College, which won in 2007, clocked 7:44.95 seconds; four-time champions and record holders Calabar High finished 10th in 7:51.46 seconds; and Edwin Allen were next with 7:52.22 seconds.
