JJ Redick Has Honest Admission About His First Playoff Series As Lakers Coach

The season is over for the Los Angeles Lakers, which means all players can take some time to reflect on what they have achieved and what they want to do next year.
It also means it’s time for JJ Redick to look back on his first year coaching in the NBA.
Following Wednesday night’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Redick talked with ESPN about his desire to improve.
“There’s always ways to get better,” Redick said. “And I can get a lot better.”
It’s been a wild, whirlwind year for Redick, who had no previous coaching experience before he was hired by the Lakers last summer.
During his first year, he brought the Lakers all the way up to the third seed, experienced the biggest trade in recent NBA history, and proved many critics wrong.
The Lakers ended the regular season with a very respectable 50-32 record, and fans have been pleased with what they see from Redick.
But they want more from the Lakers, especially in the postseason, and Redick is well aware of that.
He isn’t content with only being a strong regular-season team and wants to help the Lakers return to the playoffs.
Redick will be back with the team next year, and the pressure will be on because the front office will require that the Lakers stay just as competitive, if not more so.
There is the ticking clock of LeBron James’ nearing retirement that only gets louder, plus the team needs to capitalize on the power of the newly acquired Luka Doncic.
Redick and his team showed progress this year, but they will have to keep it up in 2025-26 and beyond.
Redick wishes to get better and will spend all summer figuring out how he can improve.
