JWPL leaders Frazsiers Whip rally to beat Arnett Gardens

DEFENDING champions Frazsiers Whip rallied from a goal down, scoring a stoppage time winner to defeat Arnett Gardens FC 2-1 in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League match at Excelsior High School on Saturday.

The result extended Frazsiers Whip’s winning run to nine games.

Arnett Gardens came within a whisker of being the first team to deny Frazsiers Whip maximum points this season, but have now lost their second game. Arnett’s gap on fourth-placed Los Perfectos has been shaved to one point.

Frazsiers Whip, who improved to 27 points, maintained their two-point lead over Cavalier FC who whipped Real MoBay AFC 9-0 in Montego Bay.

At Excelsior High’s field, Briana Crosby gave Arnett Gardens the lead in the 29th minute before Ricquanna Richards equalised in the 37th for Frazsiers Whip. Davia Richards scored the winning goal, her 19th of the season, a minute into time added.

At Jarrett Park, Jynell Graham scored a hat-trick while Tamara O’Sullivan and Shanel Spence both scored doubles in Cavalier’s big win over Real MoBay. Shadie Shirley and Jhenell Williams scored a goal each for the visitors.

At Prison Oval, UWI Women’s FC got two goals in time added near the end of the first half to record a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Federal United. The victory moved them two places up to fifth in the points table.

Africke Beckford gave Federal United the lead in the 11th minute but with half-time looming, Daniesha Hall equalised a minute into time added before Imauny Linton scored the winner moments later.

Springers United notched their first win of the season, outscoring Proven Girls 4-2 in the contest at Cornwall College in St James.

Keshara Bailey scored in the third minute to give Springers United the lead, and Jamelia Hines doubled the lead in the 32nd.

Brianna Smith pulled a goal back in the 49th minute for Proven Girls but Fredricka Finnekin restored Springers United’s two-goal advantage in the 59th and Chiara Thompson made it 4-1 in the 68th.

Tassi-Ann Dacies got a 90th-minute second goal for Proven Girls.
