Lady Falcons cap season with sweep of Fighting Maroons

MANILA, Philippines — Adamson University made sure to put an exclamation mark to end its UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball stint after sweeping University of the Philippines, 25-14, 25-21, 25-18, on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Lady Falcons avenged their first round loss over the Fighting Maroons to end the season with a 6-8 win-loss card.

UP, which defeated Final Four teams National University, Far Eastern University, and De La Salle University, ended its season with a loss.

Adamson University's super rookie Shaina Nitura fired 22 points on 18 attacks, two blocks, and two aces to lift her squad.

Nitura tallied a total of 371 points throughout Season 87.

This allowed her to hold the most points scored by a player both in men's and women's, surpassing the 312 points of Alyssa Valdez, and Mark Alfafara's long-standing record of 344 points.

No player of University of the Philippines scored in double digits as Kianne Olango made seven points, while Irah Jaboneta churned out six.
