Savi wants a PVL championship

PLDT's hitter Savi Davison is hungry for a championship in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL). And she is manifesting her intentions inside the playing court.
On Tuesday, Davison put up another monstrous performance of 34 points to give PLDT a quarterfinals ticket with a 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 26-24 victory over ZUS Coffee in the ongoing PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Her monster game was built on 32 attacks and two aces and her leadership is off the charts.
With her consistent showing, it is not a surprise that she ranked first in scoring with a total of 296 hits in the tournament. The scoring title, however, is not enough as the Filipino-Canadian hitter wants to take her team all the way to the promised land.
"I want a championship," she said.
"I want to be at that top spot at the end of the season, I guess I'm really preparing for that, so hopefully I'll just keep performing until we get there and when that time comes," she added.
The 5-foot-10 high-flyer joined PLDT in the 2023 All-Filipino Conference and wants to propel her squad to its first finals appearance in the PVL.
But first, her team has to hurdle past Choco Mucho side in the best-of-three quarterfinals.
"I think it was just a mentality shift from preliminaries to quarterfinals or the ... I guess... the playoff round. We told ... our coach told team earlier that it's a long road from here ... 'cause the championship. So ... it's best for our team to set a standard. Hopefully, we move all the way up from here," she said.
Davison, meanwhile, is gearing up with her impending showdown with Choco Mucho's scoring machine Sisi Rondina in the playoffs.
She said she is excited to face Rondina but promised to do her homework to contain her opponent.
"Obviously she's a heavy hitter she produces points for the team. I think the top thing that comes to my mind right now is controlling our side of the net and make sure that she does not score, you know, as much as she typically does," Davison said, referring to Rondina.
"I think with that we were able to control our side a little bit more. So that might be something we prioritize, but again they have other people that work, and we tryna look at and take care of as well, hopefully it's going to be a good game."
PLDT and Choco Mucho will begin their series on March 15 at the PhilSports Arena.
