Something's gotta give

As one of thousands who's been with the PBA since the time of the late Commissioner Leo Prieto, we have been hoping for a bigger, better, and more progressive league. And nothing could have been better than a finale and championship series between Northport and Rain or Shine.
For a BETTER change. Now, it looks like it's Ginebra vs TNT again. So what's new? It's the same banana all the time. SMC, Ginebra, Meralco, and TNT. That's why people switch to UAAP women's volleyball, where shockers happen all the time or PVL, where we enjoy when Creamline losses once in awhile. Unlike the NBA, where no team really dominates.
Lakers have spent a fortune for years to get back on track again, but yet, they go home almost every year with empty beers. With expensive Luca Doncic, it still looks like they can still end up nowhere. And Lebron is getting quite old. Maybe just a year or two.
This is the reason I was glad when Troy del Rosario went to another unsuccessful team last year, to boost up the chances of weaker fives. But look what happens.
Just when his new team was shaping up from the gutter to the road of redemption, we suddenly see him donning the colors of Ginebra. Why? Aren't you satisfied with Tim Cone, who's probably for me, the best coach we have right now in the land? Unless we come up with new and more improved teams in the bottom half of the PBA, spectators will dwindle more. Kapoy. Watching the same old teams year in and year out is not my kind of sports entertainment.
This is why UAAP women's volleyball, especially this year, intrigues and captures my weekends. Even if NU remains unbeaten, there's no guarantee he'll stay that way in the coming second round. And rookies shine in almost all big games.
Way to go. I will bet NU will lose in one of its games soon. Over confidence is a monster in any sport. Though they will still end up in the finals.
I have a long and outstanding friendship with the longest indefatigable PBA President, Ricky V, who's my kababayan from Negros, but a friend from way back can only be true, if he or she tells the truth and what's best for a friend. That's what friends are for. Remember that song? Cause we want to see more fans now in the bleachers and not only in the semis or finals.
A more balanced line up of all teams.. We know that PBA is making money annually under the leadership of Ricky, but this is not only the name of the game. Giving whats best for the sport is.
What's Your Reaction?
