Stockton, Winston take over as Converge routs ROS

MANILA, Philippines — Alec Stockton and Schonny Winston caught fire in the second half as the hot-shooting duo lifted Converge to a 107-97 win against Rain or Shine in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup on Wednesday night at the Philsports Arena.

Stockton knocked down 19 of his 24 points in the second half, while adding three rebounds and five assists.

On the other hand, Winston scattered 15 of his 24 points in the last two periods to help the FiberXers take control of the game en route to capturing their fourth win in six starts.

Rain or Shine saw its two-game winning streak come to an end, dropping to an even 2-2 record.

Justin Arana and top rookie pick Justine Baltazar also dominated the paint against an injury-depleted ROS, which played without Beau Belga (vertigo) and Caelan Tiongson (back spasm).

Arana scored 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, while Baltazar finished with 13 markers, 22 boards, and three blocks.

Leonard Santillan and Gian Mamuyac led ROS with 26 and 25 points, respectively.
