But a lot of people would say, 'Oh, this is cheap, it might not be as good of a quality.' So the reason why we are doing this is we want to prove that you actually can get better quality versus the brand that you're probably buying at 80 percent cheaper price," he said.

Watsons' commitment to affordability without compromising quality extends across various personal care categories.

"It functions across Watsons brand products within personal care from oral care, tissue paper, shampoo, body care products, hand wash, but it also applies even to our Watsons generics as well. So when you switch to Watsons brand, you're basically getting quality savings at an affordable price. We want to expand this to the next generation of customers, and that's the reason why we're bringing back the Switchers test," pointed out de Guzman.

When it comes to Watsons' sourcing strategy, de Guzman explained that the company goes straight to the manufacturers not just in the Philippines but globally.

"We have some locally sourced products, but we also source from whoever makes it best. So from there, each supplier has to undergo certain qualifications for them to become a Watsons product supplier, and then the products you see undergo 40 quality tests. In fact, all of our Watsons branded products, they are European-certified quality level. But you don't have to pay European quality price," shared de Guzman.
