TNT punches 1st win at expense of SMB

MANILA, Philippines — The TNT that dominated the PBA Season 49 finally showed up on Sunday.
And the Tropang 5G could thank newly-acquired guard Simon Enciso.
Enciso, who recently inked a pact with TNT, knocked down a crucial corner triple to seal the squad's 89-84 win against powerhouse San Miguel Beer on Sunday's PBA Philippine Cup showdown at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Enciso's triple from the corner gave TNT an 86-82 cushion, before Roger Pogoy followed it up with his own trey with 13 seconds to go that all but sealed the outcome.
The win snapped TNT's three-game losing skid to start the conference, which happened to be the franchise's worst start in 25 years.
Calvin Oftana exploded for 23 points and 21 rebounds for TNT.
Ren Nambatac added 15, Pogoy had 14, while Enciso, who played the past four seasons at SMB, had 13 spiked by three triples.
