Wesley ‘Callaloo’ Henry makes triumphant return

FORMER champion jockey Wesley “Callaloo” Henry made a triumphant return to racing at Caymanas Park on Saturday, April 19, 2025, riding Brompton Boy to victory in Division One of the $1.05-million Maiden Condition Race for native-bred three-year-olds over six furlongs (1,200m).

As the gates opened for the fifth event Henry guided Brompton Boy to the front of the pack, taking the early lead ahead of Royal Maverick (Teneca Wolfe) and Midnight Runner (Tajay Suckoo). The crowd held its collective breath as
Brompton Boy upped the tempo going into the half-mile (800m) turn, with Midnight Runner and Prince Kazaire (Demar Williams) hot on his heels.

But Henry and Brompton Boy were unstoppable. Responding well to Henry’s urgings in deep stretch, Brompton Boy pulled away from the competition, crossing the finishing line an easy 5¼ lengths ahead of Prince Kazaire. Alchemy of Souls (Raddesh Roman) finished third. The final time was 1:15.2 (24.4 x 48.4 x 1:02.1).

As the winners’ circle celebrated Brompton Boy’s victory, Henry beamed with pride, his triumphant return to racing a resounding success.
